They sleep with their eyes open!

Kennedy and Ellis stayed at our house for 2 days after Jen's surgery. On Tuesday night Kennedy was really tired and had a little meltdown when it was time for bed. She wanted a friend to lay by her when it was time to go to bed so I did. We sang some songs and then I told her it was time for her to read her books and go to sleep. She started to cry - I'm talking about great big tears rolling down her cheeks. She cried again that she needed a friend. I reminded her that she has her two little poodle dogs and they could be her friends to sleep by. She burst out, "they're not friends. They're just pets!" I reminded her that they were really nice little doggies and that they could be her companions that night. She cried out, "But Ma they don't close their eyes. They sleep with there eyes open (they are stuffed animals that don't have blinking eyes)! I said I need a friend!" I tried not to laugh as I kissed her goodnight, but it was hard not to. So beware - stuffed animals sleep with their eyes open.
