He Won't Wake Up

Kennedy and Ellis came upstairs yesterday afternoon to tell me that there was a cat sleeping in their window.  I ran down there to see (yes we have had 2 kittens - and a crow- fall into the window well and not be able to get out - one incident ended happily and the other didn't - the crow is now living at the Nature Park).  There it was, a kitten lying completely still.  Ellis informed me that the cat was asleep, but added that even when you scream and bang on the window it doesn't wake up.

Oh was I glad Bruce had just gotten home from work.  He scooped it out and bagged the corpse.  We closed the blinds in the kids' room and prayed for no nightmares.  We've been reading a book every night about a haunted castle on All Hallow's Eve so I was afraid of what would happen later in the night.
