Totally Gross

In the lab on wednesday, another first for me. The students bring their completed dishes to me, properly plated, along with a fork and knife or spoon, so I can evaluate taste and heat treatment. One group made a nice beef soup. They presented it in a bowl, on a plate, with a garnish and everything. One of the students brought me a spoon so I didn't even have to take one I keep in a pocket on my sleeve to use. I tasted the soup and we talked about seasoning and product quality. I placed the spoon on the plate after my tasting and asked the students to sample it as well so they could give me their opinion about flavor. (there are plastic spoons for this purpose because we talk alot about cross contamination) One of the students took the spoon I had just used, stirred the soup, then took a big bite. She agreed that it needed more pepper, seasoned it again and then used that same spoon to have another taste. I walked away shaking my head and needless to say I was satisfied that they had corrected the seasoning problem because I wasn't going to sample it again. Yikes!

That's nasty! I hope she knows that she can't cook like that at a restaurant! Gross!! How many chefs do that though? I don't even want to know.

Wow! I guess I haven't seen the last of that! ...How are you doing sister Kusch.. Guess what?! I'm back. Are you and your husband still enjoying Rexburg? Are you teaching now? That sounds exciting! Love, Melisa Todd

When you started the story I thought it was going to be a Gordan Ramsey moment ( you know from the show He!!'s Kitchen). I was hoping for a few colorful expletives. That would be a nice touch for a byu-i teacher. So nasty though. No wonder when one person gets sick the whole class gets it.

On a happy note, we miss you guys and can't wait for you to come see us.
