Life is Fragile

On Wednesday the wife of one of our campus bishops died. She was asleep when her husband left for work and when he came home for lunch he found her, exactly where she had been when he left, having died sometime while he was gone. Garna was only 63 and in good health.

Bruce went to visit the bishop that evening and Bishop Mickelsen said he and Garna had been talking about serving a mission when their time on campus was done. He would have served the customary three years in December and Bruce had not given any thought yet to his replacement. The handbook says however, a bishop of a singles ward cannot serve in this circumstance, so Bruce will have to do something quickly to identify a replacement.

We are attending the ward this morning and Bruce is speaking. The ward members are in shock (as are the rest of us) and we pray for the Spirit to comfort and heal these good students. Our prayers are with the family as well.

Life is fragile and we must live righteously every day.
